Social Media Marketer
Position Overview The GBC is motivated to find a Social Media Marketer. This role is the bridge between our providers, the public and our organization, ensuring seamless communication, provider outreach and promotion, and continuous improvement in our messaging. This position is a fully-remote, 1099, part-time position. This position will work with the GBC’s all-volunteer Board of Directors who are located across the U.S. The ideal candidate will have experience with social media marketing and strategy, preferably in an industry aligned with green burial or natural deathcare. We are seeking a candidate who is comfortable multitasking, setting their own schedule to meet deadlines, and who is comfortable communicating digitally with the public in a polite, prompt manner. Ideal candidates will be proficient writers and editors as this role also includes writing the bi-monthly newsletter, in collaboration with the board of directors.
Pay: $1,000 per month Hours: Flexible, based on contractor availability This is a 1099 independent contractor position.
Minimum and/or Special Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, digital media, marketing, or public relations or experience commensurate with degree' Experience: One (1) to three (3) years’ professional with social media platforms required. Experience with deathcare, funeral or cemetery industry familiarity preferred. Familiarity with platforms such as Canva (or other graphic design software), Weebly,Google Suite, Zoom, Mailchimp (or other CRM), and JoinIt preferred.
Duties ● Plans, strategizes, manages, and posts social media content/accounts for the Green Burial Council across all channels, including responding to messages and comments in a timely manner ● Writing and sending the bi-monthly newsletter ●Creating content calendar for social media, for general public education/promotion and education of death care professionals ● Creating promotional and registration materials for GBC events (such as digital and print ads, registration forms, etc) ● Point of contact for GBC certified providers regarding promotional and marketing materials ● Using analytic tools such as Google Analytics, Hootsuite Pro, and Facebook insights to monitor and evaluate GBC’s social media presence and performance. ● Prepares monthly reports on social media marketing and grant funding efforts. ● Identify potential new providers through social media and report findings to board ● Engage with certified Providers on social media to encourage further creation and sharing of relevant content ● Assist in writing and reviewing press releases, newsletters, blogs, and other content where appropriate ● Create infographics and other appealing visuals ● Maintain awareness of the latest social media platform developments ● Maintains a list of monthly stories and information to add to the newsletter ● In conjunction with the GBC board & staff, works to maintain databases and other administrative information as appropriate ● Working with GBC board staff on other initiatives, as time and bandwidth allows
