The Green Burial Council (GBC) works toward more sustainable burial practices and supports those who are actively engaged in green burial activities. GBC comprises two distinct nonprofit entities:
The impact of both organizations is possible because of generous and committed volunteers; we invite you to join us! The Green Burial Council considers prospective volunteers on an ongoing basis and encourages individuals from diverse backgrounds to apply, including Indigenous Peoples, People of Color, LGBTQ+ community members, and anyone who considers natural burial to be of value to the community.
The Green Burial Council evaluates volunteer applications against organizational need, striving to ensure that a diversity of skills and socioeconomic backgrounds are represented, in order to meet the needs of our diverse community. - The Green Burial Council International is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to inspire and advocate for environmentally sustainable, natural deathcare through education and outreach.
- The Green Burial Council, Inc. is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit business association which oversees certification conducted by independent third-party experts and works to maintain up-to-date standards for cemeteries, product providers, and funeral directors offering green services.
