GBC Provider Membership Benefits

The Green Burial Council logo displayed by GBC-certified cemeteries, funeral homes and product providers attests to an organization’s commitment to the environment, promoting sustainable practices, and preserving and stewarding land. The Green Burial Council is a nonprofit staffed almost entirely by volunteers. Fees support GBC’s operations and efforts to increase interest and demand for green burial alternatives. 
​GBC-certified members enjoy the following benefits:
  • GBC certification logo for use on marketing materials, website, etc.
  • Initial certification featured in GBC’s newsletter distributed monthly to more than 5,000 recipients
  • Listing with weblink on the GBC website along with a locator pin and popup on the GBC’s interactive provider maps. The GBC website attracts an average of 10,000 page-views monthly and is often the first stop for consumers searching for environmentally sustainable options.
  • Highlights on our linked social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn

Cemeteries
  • Initial natural and conservation level cemeteries $545
  • Initial hybrid cemetery $345
  • Additional locations $100 each

  • Initial funeral home $345
  • Additional locations under common ownership $100 each

Products
  • Initial certification of up to three products $345
  • Additional product $50 each

Note: Funeral Homes and cemeteries under common ownership will be charged $345 for the first funeral home plus $345 for the first cemetery. Additional funeral homes and cemetery locations will be charged at $100 each.

Refund Policy

  • Refund of 50% of certification fees paid in the event the facility or product does not meet base level GBC standards within six months of initial application.
  • No refund in cases of incomplete information where certification is marked as provisional pending additional documentation
